Purpose

The primary purpose of Next Step STORM is to share the gospel of Christ with everyone we come in contact with.  We use construction projects as a platform to share the love of Jesus with homeowners and volunteers.

We are called to those in disaster areas where there has been a major catastrophe with a focus on long term recovery.  We provide a volunteer labor workforce while partnering with local agencies, such as caseworkers and churches, to assist those that are unable to afford repairs.

Our scope of projects include:
  • In natural disaster area work: Homeowners prior to the disaster. We do not provide assistance for rentals or other businesses.
  • Inner City Construction projects
  • Must have a deed to property
  • Underprivileged homeowners
  • Under-insured homeowners
  • Safe, sanitary, and secure living conditions-  as a general rule, we do not provide labor for rebuilding fences,  storage sheds, etc.
  • Mitigation
  • Other projects may be accepted on a case by case basis, subject to director approval

Our Goal

Our goal is to share the gospel and love of Christ through the response of his people to "storm" areas. We remind every group of volunteers that the construction projects are just a platform into the lives of others to share Jesus with them. This is the only “job” you’ll have that you are encouraged to take time out from the “work” to talk to people.

We have seen many volunteers come with the objective of blessing others, but instead find that they are the ones who are blessed. This is not surprising; proving the principal “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35) in the same Spirit as Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
