We came to Birmingham, Alabama after the April 27, 2011 Supercell tornado outbreaks to assist those affected by the storms. There were over 12,000 homes damaged or destroyed during one of those storms in Jefferson County alone. Next Step Storm partners with local churches and organizations to rebuild the lives and homes of those affected by storm. This is not only in the physical sense of the word storm but also pertains to storms of life. We are continuing to provide community development within the Birmingham area. We are working with local communities to provide services for those without the means to obtain them through regular channels. We frequently build handicap ramps, paint, roof, and take on other tasks in order to ensure that the home is safe, sanitary, and secure. Homeowners obtain grants through local organizations to receive materials and Next Step STORM provides volunteer labor at no cost to the family!
